SIA investigators successful as Platinum UK Facilities Management Ltd found guilty after retrial

On 4 October Platinum UK Facilities Management Ltd were found guilty of deploying unlicensed guards following a retrial.

The case was previously heard in April 2012 when the director, Lolo Daniels, was fined. That ruling was overturned on appeal and re-tried at Inner London Crown Court.

Head of Investigations, Nigel Davies, said:

“Following the original sentence being overturned at the court of appeal our decision to seek a re-trial has today been vindicated, with guilty verdicts for both Lolo Daniels and her company, Platinum UK Facilities Management Ltd. Although the original offending occurred in 2012 we felt it was important that both defendants were held to account and justice was achieved”.

The offences were discovered in 2012 when our investigators inspected several security companies that were preparing to supply security to the Olympic Games. Our investigators visited a construction site in Reading where Platinum UK Facilities Management Ltd had supplied security services.

During a compliance check SIA Investigators found an individual working without an SIA licence. Further enquiries also revealed that he did not have the right to remain in the UK.

Sentencing has been adjourned until 1st November.
